Sata Controller Displays Yellow Exclamation Mark In Device Manager

Quite a few Windows 10 users encountered a problem with their Standard SATA AHCI Controller drivers after upgrading to Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

One user said the following on Microsoft’s forum:

So, the issue was spotted in Device Manager immediately after updating from Windows 10 version 1809 to Windows 10 version 1903.

I’ve just updated to 1903 from 1809 and now I have Standard SATA AHCI Controller with yellow exclamation sign in device manager. This device was migrated.

An independent advisor recommended running the Update Driver from Device Manager.

Another independent advisor proposed a more technical approach: run Command Prompt as an administrator, then write rundll32.exe pnpclean.dll,RunDLL_PnpClean /DRIVERS /MAXCLEAN.

Press Enter, exit the Command Prompt and then restart the computer.

It is worth mentioning that none of these solutions worked for the OP.

Interestingly enough, another user who had the same issue said this:

So, the problem got solved by itself after a while, or so it seems. Probably an update was all it took to fix the issue, and this should be a good opportunity to remind everyone to update their operating systems.
