Check out these 5 useful Nest Hello settings for a top-notch experience!
Adjust Video Quality
As Nest Hello streams HD audio and video, and potentially records every activity around your doorstep it can eat up a lot of Internet data. So, to manage this you can adjust the video quality and tone it down a bit so that it doesn’t consume your monthly data cap.
To do so, launch the Nest Hello app on your Smartphone and head on to settings. Select the “Quality and Bandwidth” option. Now here you can drag the slider and customize the video setting as per your convenience. If you set the video setting as “LOW” then the device will only consume approx 30 GB data on monthly basis.
Manage Notifications
If you’re constantly annoyed by notifications then this is the first thing to change in settings. Head on to Settings> Notifications and customize what kind of alerts you wish to receive on your Smartphone at the first place. Here you can also pick what kind of notifications you want to receive like push notifications or email notifications, text messages etc. There is also one unique setting where you can get alerts based on your geographic location. Say, you can tell the app not to notify you until you’re inside your home premises.
Disable the Status Light
Nest Hello has a small status light on its design which blinks when the device records video. But this might distract a lot of people who are there on your doorstep or even stop them from doing embarrassing stuff. So, if you don’t want to miss the action simply turn off this status light option which you can find under Setting menu.
Enable Audio Recording
If you enable the microphone you can also hear recordings of whatever is going on outside. On Nest Hello this option comes enabled by default. But if you also enable the audio recording option then you can hear also hear the sound on live HD recordings which the device records.
Turn The Camera On/Off Automatically
Nest Hello’s camera is enabled 24×7 but if there are any circumstances when you don’t want the device to record anything you can do that too! You can enable the “Home/Away Assist” which will automatically enable the camera as soon as you move out of your place and turn off the camera once you step in. For this the device uses your Smartphone’s location to detect your current location. Apart from this you can also use a few scheduling options set specific time period when you want to enable/disable the camera.
