Podcasts are audio shows that you can download from numerous sources to play on your Windows desktop, laptop, mobile or tablet. You can usually browse through podcast directories with a dedicated podcast manager app, otherwise a podcatcher, which also plays selected podcasts with its audio player. Podcast Lounge is one app that you can play podcasts on, and Igneous Software has just launched a sequel for that podcatcher in the Microsoft Store.

The original Podcast Lounge has been the podcatcher of choice for Windows Phone users. That app has a huge directory of podcasts for its users to browse through, a great UI design, customizable playlists, advanced search tools and supports both video and audio podcasts. However, the original PL app is not available for Windows desktop platforms.

Podcast Lounge 2 is the sequel to PL that has recently emerged in Microsoft Store. Note that the software is still in beta at the moment. As such, Podcast Lounge 2 is not yet an entirely finished app and might not always run entirely smoothly. Unlike the original PL, the sequel is currently freely available. Furthermore, PL2 is a Universal Windows Platform app that you can utilize on Windows 10 desktops and laptops!

There is not much difference between Podcast Lounge 2 and its predecessor. It still has the same expansive, searchable podcast directory of the original. However, one notable difference is that the sequel includes categories for podcasts so that you can browse through them according to category. Also note that Podcast Lounge 2 is only compatible with Windows 10, so you can’t run it on Windows 8 platforms.

So now you can utilize one of the best podcast apps on Windows 10 desktops and laptops. You can add the Podcast Lounge 2 beta app to Windows 10 by pressing the Get the app button on this page. This software guide provides further details about some of the other best podcast managers.
