Popular media streaming service, Plex, just issued a new update for its Windows 10 app. The latest update brings a couple of improvements, including faster loading and anonymous app metrics, so developers could bring further improvements to the app. The update also changes the version of the app to 2.1.2.30.
Plex streaming service is now a Universal Windows 10 app, which means that it will perfectly work on both Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile devices. You also have the option to stream content from one device to another. Plex is also available on other platforms, including Android and iOS, but the service is currently not compatible with Google Chromecast.
New features and improvements of Plex for Windows 10
Here’s the complete changelog of the latest Plex for Windows 10 update:

FIX:
Introduce anonymous application metrics to help drive future improvements (if you don’t want to participate, you can disable it in the app preferences – Advanced section)
- (WP) Improve app startup performance
- (WP, UI) Fix clipped text on activation dialog when in landscape mode
- (Video) Optimize video seek thumbnail loading
- A number of user-reported crashes
If you’re not familiar with Plex, this app serves as a great replacement for Microsoft’s Media Center. It organizes all videos, music and photos from your computer into collections, so you can stream them all from one place.
But free version of the app comes with some limitations, as you’re only able to stream one minute of video or music playback, and all photos will contain a watermark. However, you can unlock the full functionality of the app with the one-time purchase of £3.89, or by registering for Plex subscription pass service.
You can download the latest version of Plex for Windows 10 from the Windows Store right now.
