Users of Microsoft’s People app have recently reported that app is missing some functionality after Windows 10 Upgrade. Since this is not the first time Microsoft cut some features from its People app, that might mean that Microsoft is planning to discontinue this feature in the future.

The problem in Windows 10 occurred when some people, including myself, tried to include friends from social networks to the app. Namely, when you want to connect People app with any social network app available of Windows 10, it just redirects you to null page in the Store, with the message “Your search for “” had no results.” This means that no social network app that can be found in the Store is compatible with People app.

  • Click Update Drivers to get new versions and avoid system malfunctionings.

This is probably Microsoft’s omission, because some social network apps, like Facebook, have sync option for People app, but when you try to sync them, simply nothing happens. This could very easily be done on purpose, because Microsoft maybe plans to shut down this app in the future. And since Microsoft already discontinued some of its own apps that weren’t so popular, we tend to believe in this theory even more.

Also, when people complained about this on Microsoft forums, the staff simply answered that there are no social apps that support integration with People app, currently. They didn’t mention if there will be any updates or fixes for this in the future, which also indicates to the fact that Microsoft plans to shut this app down sooner or later.

What do you think about this Microsoft’s policy of shutting down ‘not so popular’ apps? Did you use People app, and will you miss it if Microsoft decides to shut it down? Tell us your opinions in the comments, below.
