Some improvements on their way to Outlook Mail will involve various cool Fluent Design elements such as motion, acrylic, and light — which is great: we can’t get enough of Fluent Design since Microsoft showed off its newest design language at Build 2017. This was one of the most important revelations for developers as it’s the latest design language set to arrive for various kinds of applications.
The updated Outlook Mail client – light with smooth animations and blur
It’s time to take a peek at the in-house apps that have been updated with Fluent Design, one of the most interesting ones being Outlook Mail. This one is a very popular Windows 10 application and it will be joining the Edge browser and other apps being updated with Fluent Design.
During Build 2017, Microsoft made sure it showed everyone Outlook Mail’s new features and the first ones who will get to check them out and enjoy them will probably be Insiders.
The updated Outlook Mail client includes new features such as a light for going over items and sidebar menus, motions with smooth animations when you open and close various UI elements, and acrylic for blurring certain areas.
The borderless experience
There’s another improvement that comes with the app: a borderless design. The company already mentioned how developers will be able to make some elements stretch out to cover the entire window to create a borderless experience. Like this, apps will get a more clean and streamlined look.
Until now, we could only analyze a few aspects of the Fluent Design applied in a just a small number of select apps that have been updated by Microsoft. Build 2017 gave everyone the occasion to check out everything that the company has planned.
With Fluent Design, Microsoft has managed to improve the flat UI design the company constantly forced into its apps and onto developers for so long.
