Microsoft’s Office 365 is now available from the new cloud datacenters in South Africa.
Microsoft is trying to expand its services
This was long awaited, as the first datacenters were launched in Cape Town and Johannesburg back in March. This is part of Microsoft’s ongoing process to evolve and bring its services to more and more people.
The new datacenters will help with cloud-powered intelligence and real-time collaboration, while being secure and providing a compliant environment.
Also, Office’s availability from the new cloud datacenters helps users and companies in countries with local data residency policies comply with regulations in those specific countries:
All Office 365 services may be available in South Africa in Q4, 2019
Office 365 is available in the region, joining Azure. And that’s not all, as the big M is planning to bring more services to Africa, starting with Power Platform and Dynamic 365.
Data residency for core customer data in South Africa, with data redundancy across at least two datacentre locations, also supporting in-geo business continuity and disaster recovery.
The Office 365 services are anticipated to arrive in South Africa by the end of this year.
