New Surface Updates Are In The Pipeline Insiders Already Got Them

Many Surface owners recently reported getting new updates on their devices although Microsoft has yet to update the changelog for the respective patches. For the time being, the updates are available only for Fast Ring and Slow Ring Insiders. If everything goes according to plan, we believe that Microsoft will roll out these patches to the general public starting next week.

The patches are available for the following devices: Surface Pro, Surface Laptop and Surface Book 2 and take the OS version 135.2139.257.0.

One Insider noted an interesting fact, the date of the update is actually February, 28. This could indicate that Microsoft is actually preparing to re-release an old Windows 10 update. As a quick reminder, the company already followed a similar approach with KB4093118. Microsoft initially rolled out this patch on April Patch Tuesday but recently changed its name on the official support page and rolled it out to users once again.

That’s actually a Surface SAM (System Aggregator) firmware update that’s newer (135.2139.257.0) than the recent public release (135.2114.3.0), so I’m guessing this person is running insider builds?

Unfortunately, KB4093118 is quite a buggy update, but we hope Surface owners will be spared from all the issues affecting computers running KB4093118.

Many Insiders are convinced that the new Surface updates are probably old Spectre updates that users somehow dodged earlier.
