New Details On Lenovo S Windows Mixed Reality Headset Leaked

Lenovo seems to be teasing the release date for their new affordable Windows Mixed Reality headset. The concept itself might be the coolest upcoming thing to replace your PC and smartphone, or it might just be a superficial toy that will bore you after using it. We’ll just have to wait and see, with Windows users soon having the opportunity to cast their judgment with the upcoming wave of third-party Windows Mixed Reality headsets in 2017, all of which will be powered by the Windows 10 Creators Update.

Lenovo is one of the companies planning on shipping this device and has already shown off a headset at CES.

The device weighs around 350 grams and features two 1440 x 1440 OLED display panels with a higher resolution than the HTC Vive or the Oculus Rift.

It offers a 6 degree inside-out tracking, meaning users are fully tracked in space without the camera or any other tracking devices. It’s going to be quite similar to Microsoft’s HoloLens, with the device featuring two front cameras which will support augmented reality apps without direct external vision.

While the headset lacks motion controllers, it’s going to be compatible with Windows Holographic peripherals. It’s also going to run with HoloLens software and some Windows Store apps.

The VP of Lenovo’s North America consumer business, Mike Abary, revealed that the device will be available sometime at the end of the summer. He also confirmed that the device is going to be cheaper than the Oculus Rift, which is currently on sale for $499.

The headset will cost around $300-$400 and considering high-quality features and specs, will be something to look out for.
